Two people killed in an early morning vehicle versus pedestrian crash have been identified as Mary Pillow, 25 of Winchester and Jamie Erwin, 34, of Menifee, according to a Riverside County Coroner’s office report issued just before noon today.
The two, originally reported to be teens, were assisting an unidentified person who had been involved in a physical altercation at a house party in the 31700 block of Scott Road.

Two people were killed and a third victim is in critical condition after they were struck by a vehicle on Scott Road early Thursday morning in the unincorporated community of Winchester. The teens that were struck had been assisting another teen who had been involved in a physical altercation at a house party in the 31700 block of Scott Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 1:21 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, officers were dispatched to the area after receiving numerous calls regarding the collision. Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department and emergency first responders from American Medical Response rushed to the scene of the fatal accident.
At the time when the accident occurred, a large group of juveniles and adults were leaving a party after a physical altercation had occurred. The details of the altercation were not available at press time. It is unknown if those injured in the collision had been in the roadway at the time of the accident.
“A group of people who assaulted the teen left the area, and while the group rendered aid to the young man who was assaulted, a vehicle came through the area and accidentally struck the group of kids,” CHP Sgt. Daniel Temple said.
A third victim, who was critically injured, was rendered first aid and medical treatment at the scene before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital, according to the Riverside County Fire Department, which stated two engine companies responded to the violent accident.
Two people died in the collision, including a female, Temple said.
As of press time, the ages and identity of the two killed in the collision were not released pending notification of kin. Nor was it known if the third teen involved in the collision was the teen who had been involved in the physical altercation at the party.
The driver of the gray Toyota Tundra pickup truck struck the teens as he was on his way home from work, Temple said. Alcohol and drug use on the part of the driver was not believed to have played a part in the crash.
