A photo posted to Facebook showing a dog with its muzzle duct-taped shut has gained worldwide attention and created a social media frenzy.

As of Saturday afternoon, just 24 hours after the initial post, the posting had been shared more than 320,000 times. Police officials in South Daytona, where Brown resides, say they have been completely overwhelmed with calls about the post, and had received more than 30,000 calls by Saturday morning.

According to the city of South Daytona, by Saturday morning, so many people had been flooding the South Daytona Police Department with concerned calls, e-mails and messages, the city was forced to put out a press release on Facebook assuring citizens the case was already being investigated and to stop calling to report the incident and image because the volume of calls were overwhelming the department’s communications center.

Despite being inundated with thousands of angry messages and threats, Brown has remained defiant and has refused to remove the image. Brown has since posted a follow-up message on Facebook, saying, “Dont panic everyone it was only for a minute but hasnt barked since… POINT MADE!!!”
