1000 Palms Fatal Shooting Victim Identified

On December 4, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Palm Desert station responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon call on Varner Road east of Avenue 38, in 1000 Palms.

At about 10:09 a.m., deputies arrived and located a victim suffering from gunshot injuries. The victim was treated on scene and later transported to a local hospital.

According to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was later identified as Norman Silvester Hytche, a 58-year-old resident of La Quinta.

Investigators from the Palm Desert Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene.
