PERRIS – On Tuesday, Dec. 8, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s’ Perris station responded to the 1600 block of N. Perris Blvd. regarding the report of a juvenile who had just been shot in the head by another juvenile.

First responding deputies arrived within minutes of the shooting incident, that occurred at around 3:30 p.m.

While one deputy gathered information about the shooting, another deputy immediately began to administer first aid to the victim. The deputy reported the victim was suffering from a major head injury.

Deputies on scene requested emergency first responders to expedite their response to the location as they continued to provide first aid and comfort to the victim. Personnel from AMR and CAL/FIRE arrived at approximately 3:43 p.m. and began to provide medical treatment to the victim. The victim was later transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

As deputies were rendering first aid to the victim, other responding deputies began to set up a large perimeter. Detailed information was quickly gathered regarding the suspect and that information was broadcast out to other responding deputies. Based on witness statements, deputies began to track the last known direction the suspect had been seen fleeing.

The shooting was witnessed by many juveniles and adults. Multiple witnesses told deputies the incident began inside the Mc Donald’s restaurant at the location, before spilling out into the parking lot, where the suspect shot the victim in the head.

The Mc Donalds is located directly across the street from Perris High School and is just East of the I 215 Freeway.

Star 97, a bloodhound and multiple K9’s were called to the scene to track the alleged suspect, who was eventually tracked back to his father’s residence. The alleged suspect first refused to exit the residence. Deputies surrounded the residence while Star 97 circled overhead. As more deputies flooded into the neighborhood, the alleged suspect exited the residence and was arrested without further incident.

While both the victim and suspect have been reported to be juveniles, that has yet to be confirmed. Some social media pages were abuzz about the incident, with many people who either saw the incident or had heard about it already naming both the suspect and victim.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. No further details are available at this time.

    • I agree with Curina….a through investigation should uncover all aspects…females are more mature then males at that age. A psychologist should be able to verify and determine her as possible co-defendant.
