On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 10:00 AM, the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team with the assistance of the Coachella Community Action Team located an outstanding suspect from a kidnapping, carjacking and armed robbery incident which occurred on September 17, 2015.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Oasis, along with a second subject, was located in area of Avenue 52 and Primitive Drive in Coachella while in the process of committing a residential burglary. The juvenile was arrested and booked into Indio Juvenile Hall for kidnapping, carjacking, and armed robbery. The juvenile was also booked for attempted burglary.

ORIGINAL REPORT

On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, beginning at 4:00 AM, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team, with assistance from  the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force, and various specialized units from the Sheriff’s Thermal Station served three search warrants in connection with an extensive extortion, assault, armed robbery, and kidnapping for ransom investigation that occurred on September 17, 2015, in the unincorporated community of Oasis.

During the initial incident, an adult male resident of Oasis was kidnapped, robbed at gunpoint and was driven to an undisclosed location where he was assaulted.

Deputies from the Thermal Station conducted a lengthy investigation and connected several suspects to this crime and authored several search warrants for various locations. During today’s search warrants, six rifles, six handguns, one shotgun, five high-capacity magazines, a stolen firearm, numerous rounds of ammunition, gang indicia, a large sum of US currency, and items consistent with the sales of narcotics.  The following subjects were arrested:

  • Albin Tadeo, age 18, from Oasis, was arrested and booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for victim and witness intimidation
  • Jesus Tadeo, age 21, from Oasis, was arrested and booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for victim and witness intimidation.
  • Fernando Chavez, age 26, from Oasis, was arrested and booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for possession of methamphetamine for sales, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while selling narcotics.
  • A 16-year old male juvenile, from Oasis, was arrested and booked into Indio Juvenile Hall for kidnapping for ransom, carjacking, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and extortion.
