RIVERSIDE: 15 recent arrests by Riverside Police Department

WIG WEARING CAR THIEF ARRESTED

Today, on Dec. 26, an officer on routine patrol in the 1700 block of University Avenue near Walgreens observed an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in the lot. The subject sitting in the driver seat was wearing a lady’s wig and looking through binoculars in the direction of the Boost Mobile and Rite-Aid. The officer ran the license plate and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from the City of Fontana. The subject exited the vehicle and was immediately detained. The subject stated he got the vehicle from a couple in Victorville. The subject was later arrested and booked into jail.


 

SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT ARRESTED INSIDE A STOLEN VEHICLE

Today on Dec. 25, shortly after 12:00 p.m., an officer was on routine patrol in the 1700 block of University Avenue near the Walgreens when he observed an occupied suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The subject was sitting in the driver’s seat wearing a lady’s wig and looking through binoculars in the direction of the Boost Mobile and Rite-Aid stores across the street.

The officer ran the license plate and it came back as reported stolen from the City of Fontana. He contacted and detained the subject, who was later arrested and booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle.


 

GUN TOTING BICYCLIST ATTEMPTS TO FLEE POLICE

Yesterday afternoon, on Dec. 22, around 5:30 p.m., an officer attempted a bike stop of a known probationer for a California Vehicle Code violation in the area of Chicago Avenue and Linden Street. The suspect failed to stop and refused to comply with the officer’s commands. Additionally, the suspect tossed a gun on the ground when he attempted to flee. The officer pulled the suspect from the bike and was detained. An off-duty officer and a concerned citizen assisted in securing the weapon and handcuffing the suspect until assisting officers arrived. It was learned that the gun the suspect had tossed was stolen out of the City of Corona. The suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall.


 

ARMED SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Late yesterday evening, Dec. 22, around 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 3200 Block of Interchange Street regarding a known subject, who was refusing to leave and attempting to cut a security guard with a box cutter. Upon the officers’ arrival, they detained the suspect. The security guard signed a citizen’s arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and trespassing. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


 

JUVENILE ARRESTED FOR THEFT AND STOLEN PROPERTY

Early this morning, Dec. 22, around 1:45 a.m., officers responded to the Orangecrest area of Hawksbury Drive and Grangehill Drive regarding a vehicle burglary in progress with a witness watching the suspect. An officer arrived on scene and detained the 14-year-old suspect. The suspect was found to be in possession of stolen property from several different vehicles. It was determined the suspect was trying door handles to vehicles and would take property when he found one unlocked. The officers were able to locate a few victims and return their property.

A juvenile court petition was completed and the suspect was released to his grandparents with the charges of theft and possession of stolen property filed.


 

PEDESTRIAN CHECK YIELDS FELONY ARREST

Saturday evening, Dec. 19, officers conducted a pedestrian check near the 3700 Block of Harrison Street. A records check revealed the suspect had a felony warrant for drug sales. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


 

JUVENILE ARRESTED FOR STRONG ARMED ROBBERY

Saturday afternoon, Dec. 19, an officer responded to the 1800 Block of Linden Street regarding a strong-arm robbery of a cell phone. During the altercation, the victim was struck over the head with a bottle. The officer detained a possible suspect, which the victim positively identified as the suspect. The suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall.


 

JUVENILE ARRESTED WHILE DRIVING STOLEN CAR

Saturday morning, Dec. 19, officers ran a records check on a vehicle in the 2500 block of 10th Street. The records check revealed the vehicle was a reported stolen car. The driver and sole occupant was detained. The juvenile driver was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for possession of stolen property.


 

DUI DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER CRASH

Friday evening, Dec. 18, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic accident in area of Van Buren Boulevard and Morris Street. The vehicle in question impacted the curb of Van Buren Boulevard, sheared off a tree, a light standard and came to rest in a nearby grass area. The driver of the vehicle was contacted standing near the vehicle and was determined to be under the influence and unable to drive a motor vehicle safely. He was arrested and transported to the station for processing after being medically cleared.


 

SUSPECT ARRESTED WHILE IN POSSESSION OF STOLEN MAIL AND PROPERTY

Thursday evening, Dec. 17, officers conducted a bike stop for a California Vehicle Code violation near Andrew Street and McKenzie Street. During a consented search, officers found stolen mail and a stolen check. The owner of the checked was contacted and confirmed it was stolen. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


 

DRUNK DRIVER ARRESTED

Early this morning, Dec. 17, officers responded to a report of a drunk driver near La Sierra Avenue and Indiana Avenue. Officers contacted the driver who displayed obvious signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested and booked into jail.


 

POLICE PURSUE TWO MOTORCYCLISTS – ONE ARRESTED

Yesterday evening, Dec. 16, officers were in the area of Spruce Street and Main Street when they saw two motorcycles who were speeding. The officers attempted to make a traffic stop, however, the two riders failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The two riders stayed together through the downtown area.

One of the riders stopped near Magnolia Avenue and Jurupa Avenue. The officers continued pursuing the rider who was still fleeing. The rider terminated the pursuit near Central Avenue and Palm Avenue and complied with the officers’ commands. The rider was arrested and booked into jail for two outstanding felony warrants and felony evading. The other motorcycle was not located.


 

PEDESTRIAN CHECK YIELDS METH AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

Yesterday afternoon, Dec. 16, officers conducted a pedestrian check near the 9800 Block of Magnolia Avenue. It was learned that the suspect is on parole and during a search officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.


 

MAN THROWING GLASS BOTTLES AT PASSING CARS ARREST FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION

Yesterday morning, Dec. 16, officers responded to the 3000 Block of Iowa Avenue regarding a subject throwing glass bottles at passing cars and being belligerent. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a subject matching the description and who was displaying obvious signs of intoxication. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail for public intoxication.
