Man shot and beaten following argument in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY – A man was shot and beaten in Moreno Valley in the 24800 block of Alessandro Blvd. on Feb. 20, following an argument between him and two unidentified suspects. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated at a local hospital and released later the same day.

After receiving a 911 report of a shooting that had just occurred, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Station responded to the reported incident. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim who had been shot and beaten during an argument at the location.

Deputies located and interviewed several people who had witnessed the incident. Witnesses reported seeing two men approach the victim, at which time an argument ensued between the three subjects.

During the argument, witnesses said one of the two suspects pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot the victim. When the victim fell to the ground after being shot, both suspects began kicking and beating the man before running away.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored compact car leaving the area shortly after the men ran away, however sheriff’s department officials have not specified if the vehicle seen leaving the area was actively involved in the shooting incident.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before they transported him to a regional hospital for medical treatment. The victim was released from the hospital later the same day.

In a press release, Riverside Sheriff Sergeant Alfonso Campa said Moreno Valley Police are actively investigating the shooting and following several leads.

“The Moreno Valley Police Department will be vigilant in arresting violators of the law. Moreno Valley PD would like to remind all citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times and report any suspicious activity, including any vehicles or persons by calling 911 for emergencies, or calling our dispatch center non-emergency line at (951) 247-8700,” Campa wrote about the incident.
