Hemet Police Officers arrested Trevel Warren for the beating of a Hemet motel manager.

HEMET – Detectives from the Hemet Police Department arrested a man who has been accused of brutally beating an elderly motel manager on Wednesday, Mar. 9. The victim suffered significant injuries to his head and face and he remains listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

Early in their investigation officers and detectives identified Trevel Warner, 21, a transient on Post release Community Supervision (PRCS) probation for domestic violence out of Kern County, as the alleged suspect in their investigation. Detectives located and arrested Warner in the 200 Block of W. Florida Avenue on Mar. 10, at about 3 p.m.

The investigation began on Mar. 9, at 12:37 p.m., when the Hemet Police Department responded to a report of a battery that had just occurred at the Coachlight Motel, located at 1640 W. Florida Avenue.

When officers arrived at the motel they discovered the motel manager had been severely beaten. Paramedics and other emergency first responders treated the victim before he was transported in critical condition to the hospital.

Witnesses who saw the violent incident told officers that Warner arrived at the motel to visit a guest who was staying at the motel. Warner reportedly had a dog with him, against motel policy. When the motel manager attempted to tell Warner that the dog was not allowed on the motel property Warner became enraged and attacked the victim.

Witnesses told police that Warner punched the victim in the head and face, knocking him to the ground. Warner then reportedly jumped on the victim and continued to punch him in the head and face. Witnesses, who did not intervene to help the elderly victim, estimated Warner struck the victim 10-20 more times, before he fled the motel with his dog.

After detectives located and arrested Warner he was transported to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility where he was booked for assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury and elder abuse. Warner’s bail was set at $25,000 bail, however a jail records search conducted on Mar. 11 showed he had already been released from jail. He is scheduled for arraignment on Apr. 22 at 7:30 a.m.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Hemet Police Department at (951) 765-2400. Callers can remain anonymous.
