REDLANDS – Law enforcement officers from Redlands Police Department and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department are currently on scene of a shooting incident, after an unidentified adult male reportedly walked into a Redlands Office Depot, located at 602 N. Orange Street, and attempted to shoot his girlfriend. The shot reportedly missed his girlfriend and hit another person.

Some news agencies have reported the person shot was killed, however that has not been independently confirmed as of this report.

In an interview, Redlands Police Chief Mark Garcia stated the person shot at the Office Depot sustained a gunshot wound to the finger and was receiving medical treatment for their injury.

After the shooting, the man reportedly took his girlfriend hostage and fled from the location in a blue Toyota. Sources indicate the suspect fled to a nearby residential neighborhood with his girlfriend.

Numerous officers converged on the scene, and now have the area surrounded. The man is allegedly threatening to shoot himself and his girlfriend and has been seen pointing a handgun at his girlfriend as well as putting the gun under his own chin and at his own chest.
