Two men arrested for counterfeiting money after Riverside vehicle check

RIVERSIDE – Riverside Police officers arrested two men on Monday afternoon, April 4, after officers conducted a vehicle check near the 10700 Block of Magnolia Avenue, according to Riverside Police officials. The two men were reportedly in possession of counterfeit money a printer used to make counterfeit money and methamphetamine.

At about noon, officers conducting a criminal investigation contacted two subjects, who reportedly attempted to walk away from the car as the officers approached.

Jose Navarro was arrested after being found in possession of counterfeit money and a printer.

Officers detained the two men, who were identified as Zachary Conley, a 23-year-old transient of Riverside, and Jose Navarro, 36, of El Centro, and conducted an investigation.

During their investigation, the officer’s conducted a records check that revealed one of the two men had a felony federal warrant for gun-related charges. Officers learned the other subject was on probation. Officers conducted a search of the two men and discovered the pair were in possession of counterfeit money and methamphetamine.

During a subsequent vehicle search, officers discovered more counterfeit money as well as a printer, according to a press release from the department.

Based on their initial investigation, officers contacted the United States Secret Service, who responded to the Riverside Police Department for further investigation.

At the conclusion of their investigation, officers arrested Conley and Navarro for numerous charges, including burglary, making or possessing fictitious money, possession of counterfeit plates, possession of a controlled substance and numerous other charges.

A jail records search revealed Conley and Navarro are scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice on April 15.
