Moreno Valley motorcyclist killed in Riverside collision

RIVERSIDE – A 36-year-old Moreno Valley resident was killed in a fatal motorcycle versus vehicle traffic collision on Alessandro Boulevard at Vista Grande Drive, Friday, May 20, according to Riverside Police officials.

City of Riverside emergency communications dispatchers were notified about the accident when several people called 911 to report a collision involving a motorcycle that smashed into a vehicle at about 3:53 p.m. Emergency first responders from the Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to the chaotic scene to assist the downed rider and any others injured in the collision.

Upon arrival, officers, firefighters and paramedics found the motorcyclist had sustained major traumatic injuries. The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of the victim’s family.

Based on initial witness statements and evidence at the scene, officers determined the motorcyclist was driving his 2015 Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle eastbound on Alessandro Blvd when the accident occurred. It had not been immediately determined how fast the motorcyclist was traveling at the time of the accident.

“A 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan, driven by a 42-year-old Riverside woman, was traveling westbound on Alessandro Blvd, according to a press release from Riverside PD. “She made a U-turn at Vista Grande Dr. into the eastbound lanes directly in front of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was unable to stop and collided with the minivan.”

The woman had two children with her in the minivan when the accident occurred. None of the three were injured, according to officials.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene of the fatal collision and is investigating the accident.
