Mira Loma resident killed when car strikes tree in Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY – A 25-year-old Mira Loma resident died early Monday morning, May 23, after his vehicle struck a tree, according to a sheriff official. The fatal accident occurred on Van Buren near the intersection of Etiwanda in Jurupa Valley.

Coroner’s officials identified the man as the victim as Jacob Rock. The coroner’s release listed Rock’s time of death as 5:25 a.m., and listed the exact location of Rock’s accident as East Mission Boulevard, 464 feet West of 60 freeway on ramp.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the deadly crash at 12:55 a.m., after emergency communications dispatchers received several 911 calls about the fatal collisionRiverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Bill Davis wrote in a press release.

Investigators identified Rock as the driver and sole occupant from inside the car. Rock sustained major traumatic injuries and was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Jurupa Valley traffic deputies revealed Rock was traveling southbound the Honda Civic on Van Buren Boulevard when he suddenly veered off the roadway and struck a tree.
