BREAKING: Woman hospitalized after Menifee stabbing

MENIFEE – A woman was hospitalized after she was reportedly stabbed during a fight Sunday, July 3 at a residence in Menifee. The stabbing occurred in the 27600 block of Avenue Interno.

The residence where the stabbing occurred is in a normally quiet neighborhood, just north of McCall Road and east of Sherman Road. The home is located directly across the street from Hans Christensen Middle School and is also mere blocks from the Menifee Valley Medical Center and Boulder Ridge Elementary School.

The stabbing was first reported to Riverside County emergency dispatchers at 8:19 p.m. when a 911 caller told dispatchers there was a fight occurring at the residence. The caller reported that during the fight, the victim was stabbed. It was not immediately known if she was stabbed on purpose or as a result of the reported fight.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station, Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters, and AMR paramedics rushed to the location and quickly located the victim.

Ruben Diyala, who lives in the neighborhood and was enjoying a backyard BBQ with friends, said he was shocked when numerous patrol vehicles and other emergency first responders flooded into his neighborhood. According to Diyala, he was unaware of anything happening in his neighborhood until all the police activity pulled him and his guests from their backyard get together.

While deputies converged on the area to search for the alleged suspect in the stabbing, paramedics treated the victim at the scene before they transported her to an area hospital. Her wounds were described as non-life-threatening.

It was not immediately known what the motive for the stabbing was or what part the reported fight played in the woman’s stabbing. The victim has not been publicly identified.
