UPDATE: Firefighters battle Banning commercial blaze

At 3:25 p.m. Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann provided an update to the ongoing fire operation at a commercial structure that burned in Banning.

One 30,000 square foot abandoned concrete building was destroyed in the blaze, according to Hagemann.

Fire personnel were expected to be at the scene for several hours, until about 6 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported as a result of he fire.

BANNING – Firefighters are on scene of a commercial structure fire involving an abandoned building in the 800 Block W. Lincoln Street in Banning. The fire was first reported at 10:42 a.m. Sept. 3.

CAL FIRE/Riverside County and Morongo Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and began the process of battling the blaze. Banning Police officers are assisting with road closures in the area.

21 firefighters from five engine companies, and one truck company from Cal Fire are at the scene of the ongoing fire, according to .

A fire investigator has responded to the scene to conduct a fire investigation.
