UPDATED: Little Lake fire contained, garage and car severely damaged

At 8:45 p.m., CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann updated that the residential fire contained was contained at 8:15 p.m. Resources were expected to remain at the scene for at least one 1-2 hours for extensive clean up operations and to ensure against accidental flare ups.

HEMET – Firefighters are on scene of a residential structure fire in the 41500 block of Royal Palm Drive. They were dispatched to the fire Sept. 5 at 7:34 p.m. Royal Palm is located in the unincorporated area of Hemet known as Little Lake.

“The first arriving engine company reported a single story, single family home partially involved with smoke and flames visible,” according to CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann.

23 firefighters from six engine companies responded to the blaze. They were assisted by a Breathing Support Unit and a Medic Squad.

Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas Company were requested to come to the location to shut off utilities to the residence where the fire was happening

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations, including the Robert Presley Detention Center, the Southwest Station in Temecula, the Hemet Station, and the Lake Elsinore Station, along with many other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, Personnel and Background Investigations and he finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 11 (soon to be 12) grandchildren.
