DESERT HOT SPRINGS: Officials investigating after two shot, one killed

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – One man has died after two were shot in the 16100 block of Via Montana in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs Saturday, Oct. 15, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Walter Mendez.

Deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Palm Desert Station responded to Via Montana, after Riverside County emergency dispatchers received an assault with a deadly weapon call about 4:18 p.m.

When they arrived, deputies located two adult Hispanic men suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics treated the two victims at the scene before they transported both to a local hospital by ground ambulances.

On Monday, Oct. 17 one of the victims succumbed to his injuries. Officials identified the victim as Adrian Partida, 19, of Desert Hot Springs.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department-Central Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation and are actively investigating the murder.

“The other victim was discharged from the hospital and his identity will not be released due to the ongoing status of this investigation,” Mendez explained.

No reason or motive for the fatal shootings has been released

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.
