RIVERSIDE: Motorcyclist killed when car pulls in front of them

RIVERSIDE –  A Riverside resident was killed when a vehicle pulled in front of a motorcycle they were riding Friday, Oct, 28. The deadly collision happened on Indiana Avenue west of Washington Street in the City of Riverside.

Riverside police officers and firefighters responded to 911 calls reporting the vehicle versus motorcycle collision at about 9:30 a.m.

When they arrived emergency first responders found the motorcyclist had sustained major traumatic injuries. The driver and a passenger from the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries. AMR medics transported all three victims to Riverside Community Hospital.

The motorcycle rider succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of their family.

Officers from the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team were called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Their preliminary investigation determined an adult female was driving a late-model Toyota Rav4 and was exiting a parking lot on the north side of Indiana Avenue. The driver intended on making a left turn onto eastbound Indiana.

The driver of the Toyota did not yield to the motorcyclist, a 35-year-old Riverside resident who was riding a newer Yamaha R3. The motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Indiana Avenue in the lane closest to the right curb collided broadside with the Toyota.

The investigation into the fatal collision is active and ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this collision or who witnessed the accident is urged to call Riverside Police Traffic Detective K. Madsen at (951) 826-8723.
