HOMELAND: Felon with firearm, narcotics arrested after disturbance

HOMELAND – Deputies responding to a disturbance call arrested a felon, accused of being in possession of a firearm and a large quantity of concentrated cannabis Thursday, Dec. 29. The incident and arrest happened in the 25000 block of Avenida Ramada Drive near Alicante Drive in Homeland.

The suspect, who was identified as Rodney Alexander Topkov, 34, of Homeland, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of marijuana/marijuana concentrate for sales with prior convictions.

The incident began when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris station responded to a report of a disturbance at the residence about 10:10 a.m.

When deputies arrived they made contact with two subjects sitting inside a vehicle regarding the call for service, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Thompson.

“During the course of their investigation, deputies located large quantities of concentrated cannabis with a street value of approximately $20,000,” Thompson explained. “Upon further investigation, deputies located a firearm and a large amount of cash.”

Based on the recovered firearm and narcotics, deputies arrested Topkov. After their investigation, deputies booked the alleged suspect at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.

A jail record search revealed Topkov was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta Jan. 3.
