NORCO: Mentone man arrested for vehicle theft, elder abuse, other charges

NORCO – A deputy arrested a man who was in possession of a stolen vehicle Tuesday, Jan. 3. The incident and arrest happened in the 3500 block of Hamner Avenue in the City of Norco.

Reggie Cameron was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, elder abuse, and other charges in the City of Norco.

After an investigation, Reggie Lee Cameron, 37, of Mentone, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for unlawful taking of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, and elder abuse, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant John Del Valle.

The incident began when a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Norco Police station responded to the area about 9:21 a.m., to investigate a 911 report of two men acting suspiciously near a vehicle in a parking lot at the location.

When the deputy arrived, he made contact with the two males who were seen near the vehicle. The deputy conducted a records check and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen Jan 2, from the City of Palm Springs.

During his investigation, the deputy determined one of the subjects, later identified as Cameron, had stolen the vehicle from an elderly male Palm Springs resident.

Based on his investigation the deputy arrested Cameron.

An online jail records search revealed Cameron was being held in lieu of $5,000 and was scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice Jan 5.

The investigation is ongoing and sheriff’s officials have asked that anyone with additional information regarding this investigation and vehicle theft to contact Deputy Robertson at the Norco Sheriff’s Office at 951-270-5673. Callers can refer to incident file number G170030016 and can remain anonymous.
