JURUPA VALLEY: Two men fatally shot at house party

JURUPA VALLEY – Officials have identified two men who were fatally shot during a Jurupa Valley house party just after midnight Sunday, Feb. 26. The deadly, early-morning shooting happened at a residence in the 6400 block of Avenida Michaelinda.

The residential neighborhood where the double murder happened is north of Limonite Avenue and southwest of Rubidoux High School.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the residence about 12:24 a.m., according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Buompensiero.

When they arrived, deputies located a man in the driveway of the residence. The victim, who was later identified as 31-year-old, Nathaniel Allen, was mortally wounded when he was shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

During their initial investigation, deputies learned a second victim, who was later identified as 19-year-old, Joseph Sanchez, had also been shot multiple times at the party. He was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital by other party-goers, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Both victims were residents of Jurupa Valley. It was not immediately known if the two victims knew each other.

Investigators from the Jurupa Valley station and department’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

Deputies, investigators, and other sheriff’s officials could be seen at the residence throughout the morning searching for, photographing, and collecting evidence in front of the residence where the deadly shooting occurred. Officials recovered numerous shell casings and other items of evidence from the scene.

“This does not appear to be a random act,” Buompensiero said the day after the deadly double-shooting.

No suspects have been arrested and the investigation is active and ongoing.
