UPDATED: SAN JACINTO: Firefighters extinguish blaze that charred 27 acres and sent firefighter to hospital

SAN JACINTO — Firefighters have contained a vegetation blaze that burned for about nine hours and charred nearly 30 acres near Soboba Road in an unincorporated area of San Jacinto.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral updated that the fire had been contained shortly before 9 p.m.

Officials have not provided any other updates regarding a firefighter who was hospitalized with minor injuries and have not provided any information about the suspected cause of the fire.

SAN JACINTO — Firefighters battling a vegetation fire burning  are continuing to battle the blaze and have held the fire at 27 acres, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral updated in an incident report.

According to Cabral, the fire is now ninety percent contained; however, fire officials have not provided an estimated time of containment.

Officials have still not provided any updates regarding the firefighter who was injured while battling the blaze and officials have not specified the nature or extent of the firefighter’s injuries.

SAN JACINTO — Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral updated that the vegetation blaze burning near Soboba Road, east of Gilman Springs Road, in an unincorporated area of San Jacinto had burned 27 acres and is seventy-five percent contained.

Cabral did not provide any updates regarding the firefighter who was injured while battling the blaze and officials have not specified the nature or extent of the firefighter’s injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: SAN JACINTO: Firefighter hospitalized as officials continue battling wildfire

SAN JACINTO — One firefighter has reportedly been hospitalized with minor injuries and firefighters are working to extinguish a vegetation wildfire that has already charred five acres, according to fire officials.

The fire, which officials have said is thirty percent contained, is burning near Soboba Road, east of Gilman Springs Road, in an unincorporated area of San Jacinto.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area shortly after noon, June 3, after several 911 callers reported the blaze to emergency dispatchers.

There are currently more than 100 firefighters from 16 engine companies battling the fire, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral explained in an incident report. They are being assisted by Soboba firefighters, a water dropping helicopter, an air tanker, two Bautista Inmate fire crews, two water tenders, two bulldozers and a helitender.

“The first arriving engine company reported one acre of heavy fuels with a slow rate of spread,” said Cabral. “The fire is currently five acres and 0% contained.”
