PERRIS: Victim hospitalized after off-road vehicle overturns

PERRIS — An off-road enthusiast was hospitalized with moderate injuries after a vehicle the victim was driving overturned in the foothills on the southwest end of the city of Perris. The Monday, Oct. 23 accident was reported in the area of Goetz and Sotelo Roads, according to officials.

Firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene accident about 10:17 a.m., after officials were notified about an off-road vehicle that had overturned, injuring the driver of the vehicle.

Twelve firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the emergency, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman explained in an incident report after the rescue.

When firefighters and others arrived at the scene, they located the victim about 100 yards up a hill. 

Firefighters hiked up to the victim and after stabilizing the injured person they carried the patient out to a waiting ambulance. American Medical Response medics transported the victim by a ground ambulance to an area hospital.

The victim, whose name was not released, sustained moderate injuries in the crash, according to Newman.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 grandchildren.
