Moreno Valley victim killed after vehicle rolls down Hwy 60 off-ramp embankment ID’d

MORENO VALLEY — A man who died after his vehicle rolled down an embankment has been identified by the Coroner’s Office. The deadly, single-vehicle accident happened  Thanksgiving evening, Thursday, Nov. 23, on the westbound Highway 60 off-ramp at Heacock Street in Moreno Valley.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s officials later identified Ricardo Arce Fragoso, 39, of Moreno Valley, as the man killed in the crash.

A Coroner’s release indicated Fragoso was pronounced dead by officials at 7:14 p.m., about fifteen minutes after the accident was reported.

CHP’s investigation into the deadly accident is active and ongoing.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: Man killed after vehicle rolls down freeway embankment

MORENO VALLEY — A man died after his pickup truck rolled down a freeway embankment on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23. The early evening, fatal accident happened on the off-ramp of the westbound Highway 60 at Heacock Street in Moreno Valley.

California Highway Patrol officers, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire officials and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the deadly crash about 7 p.m., after other motorists and witnesses called 911 to report the crash.

According to a CHP incident log, witnesses who called 911 to report the accident reported seeing a dark-colored pickup truck lose control and leave the freeway off-ramp at a high rate of speed.

Five firefighters from one engine company responded to the scene of the fatal accident, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman explained in an incident report. They were assisted by a paramedic squad.

When they arrived, firefighters found a driver who had sustained major, traumatic injuries. The victim and sole-occupant of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by officials at 7:14 p.m., about fifteen minutes after the wreck was reported.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials were summoned to the scene to recover the victim’s body and assist with the investigation.

According to a CHP official at the scene, alcohol and/or drug intoxication have not been ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash.

CHP’s investigation into the accident is active and ongoing.
