CHP, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire and other emergency first responders rushed to the scene of the fatal collision shortly before 8:30 p.m., after receiving reports of multiple pedestrians that had been run down by a motorist who then fled the scene.

Thirteen firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the scene of the accident, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire spokesperson Jody Hagemann explain in an incident report. They were assisted by a paramedic squad.

When officials arrived they located three pedestrians that had been run over by an unidentified motorist. The trio was found in the lanes of traffic along a sweeping curve in the roadway.

Within fifteen minutes of arriving officials updated that two of the pedestrians, described as an adult man and woman, had succumbed to their injuries and both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officials have not released the victim’s names, pending identification and notification of their families.

The third pedestrian, described only as a juvenile, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to Newman. It was not immediately known how or if the three victims were related.
