SAN JACINTO: Overloaded pickup wrecks two parked vehicles, smashes into tree

SAN JACINTO — No injuries were reported after an overloaded truck plowed head-on into a parked car, propelling it into another parked vehicle earlier this evening. The pickup that caused the wreck then went up and over a curb into someone’s front yard, where it plowed into a tree. The non-injury crash happened in the area of Laurelhurst Heights and Multnomah Court, east of De Anza Drive and Young Street, in San Jacinto.

When officials arrived they found a heavily damaged, white Nissan Juke sitting parallel across Laurelhurst Heights.

The car’s front-end was destroyed from being hit by a Dodge pickup, and it’s damaged back-end was resting against an older Ford pickup truck that had been parked across the street. After hitting the Nissan, propelling it backwards into the Ford, the Dodge came to rest after smashing into a tree in the front yard of a home.

While firefighter/paramedics checked on the status of the three occupant’s from the Dodge, deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police Station investigated the cause of the crash.

Based on evidence at the scene and the Dodge driver’s statements, officials determined the overloaded pickup, which was carrying what appeared to be a large industrial refrigerator, had been travelling westbound on Laurelhurst Heights when it lost control, crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and plowed into the parked Nissan, launching it backwards and across the street, where it collided with the parked Ford.

After plowing into the Nissan, the Dodge pickup continued up and over a curb and sidewalk, through a residential front yard, and into a tree. The driver of the Dodge was reportedly just two blocks from home when the accident happened.

None of the occupants from the truck, including the adult male driver and two children according to witnesses, were injured in the accident and all declined medical treatment at the scene.

The owners of the two other vehicles involved were notified of the collisions involving their vehicles and no pedestrians or others were injured in the crash.

San Jacinto PD is investigating the cause of the collision and their investigation is ongoing.
