The victim, later identified as Anthony Young, was fatally shot Apr. 8, on the 2000 block of N. Perris Boulevard in Perris.

According to sheriff’s officials, Young was shot and killed during an “apparent robbery” at a shopping center parking lot. He died of a single gunshot wound after being rushed to an area hospital.

After the deadly shooting the alleged suspects fled the area in a 1998-2000 Lexus GS300 4-door, with tinted windows and a sunroof, according to a flyer released by sheriff’s officials.

Deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Police Station responded to reports of the deadly shooting shortly before 8 p.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Ben Ramirez explained in an initial written press release after the fatal incident.

Early during their investigation, Perris Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators located and obtained surveillance video footage of the murder and asked for help identifying two men seen participating in Young’s robbery and homicide in the surveillance footage.

After officials released the surveillance video footage on the Sheriff’s Facebook page, authorities received “numerous tips” about one of the men involved in the deadly incident, Ramirez explained in an updated press release.

Using information provided by anonymous tipsters, on Monday, May 21, Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators and detectives from Hemet Police Department located and arrested 21-year-old, Tyler Nathaniel Washington. He was found hiding at a residence on the 500 block of E. Devonshire Avenue, in the city of Hemet.

Washington was later booked into jail on suspicion of murder with malice and 2nd degree robbery. He remains in custody and is being held without bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall of Justice this morning.

After Washington’s arrest, Ramirez thanked the public for their help identifying the alleged suspect and asked again for assistance identifying and locating the second man seen in the surveillance footage during the commission of Young’s robbery and murder.
