UPDATE: MENIFEE: Missing 86-year-old found driving in OC’s Laguna area

MURRIETA — Family members say an 86-year-old man who was reported missing after failing to return home after running an errand just miles from his Menifee home has been found uninjured and safely returned home.

The missing man, Fredrick Vanallen, who was considered at-risk due to his medical conditions was reportedly located in the beachfront Laguna area of Orange County.

It was not immediately known why Vanallen traveled more than 60 miles from his home; however, his family has reported how thankful they are to all those who helped share information about his disappearance.

 

MURRIETA — Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a missing, at-risk, 86-year-old after he failed to return home last night. The elderly man was reported missing after running an errand less than three miles from his home on the 28000 block of Murrieta Rd. in Menifee.

Deputies assigned to the Menifee Police Department responded to the missing man’s residence shortly before 9 p.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting the elderly man’s disappearance, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Wolfe explained this morning.

“The preliminary investigation revealed Fredrick Vanallen left his home in a grey, 2008 Hyundai Sonata, with a CA license plate of 6JEC872,” said Wolfe. The missing victim left his home earlier in the day to visit an auto shop at the Menifee Auto Care Plaza on the northeast corner of Bradley Rd. and Park Ave., according to the Sgt.

Fredrick, who is considered to be at-risk due to his medical conditions, never returned home and his whereabouts are unknown, explained Wolfe.

Callers can refer to incident file number ME181790110 and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
