Deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff’s Station and other emergency first responders were dispatched to a home on the 17100 block of Cajon Dr. just before 12:15 p.m., after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

When officials arrived at the home, located at the corner of Cajon Dr. and Oak St., they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds, as well as the two other injured subjects.

Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Robyn Flores later explained that during the early morning dispute the suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, brandished a firearm. As the altercation escalated, two people at the residence were shot and a third was physically assaulted.

According to Flores, none of the victims’ injuries were considered life threatening and as of 2:30 a.m., the alleged suspect was not in custody. It was not immediately clear if the suspect had been located and questioned.

After cordoning off the area with crime scene tape, deputies could be seen searching Cajon Dr. for evidence related to the shooting. As the investigation was ongoing, forensic technicians also responded to the scene to assist with documenting, photographing and collecting evidence.

Officials have not released any information about the dispute that led to the shooting and citing the ongoing investigation, Flores advised no further information would be released at this time.

Cajon Dr. is expected to remain closed for several hours while officials investigate the shooting.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information becomes available.
