Family and friends later identified Kai Killebrew, Jaylen Rushin, and Matthew Shupp, as the three students injured when their car overturned after reportedly hitting a raised bump in the roadway and losing control.

Excessive speed is considered a possible contributing factor in the major-injury crash.

According to those who know the three victims, all three were on the school’s football team and one plays on the basketball team.

After learning of the accident that hospitalized his three students, Xavier Prep principal Chris Alling said counselors and other resources would be available to any students impacted by the incident.
