Deputies began investigating the shooting about 11:16 a.m., after receiving reports of a home struck by gunfire, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Alan Northrup explained after Ramirez’ arrest.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found a residence that had been struck by bullets and began searching the area for evidence related to the shooting.

While canvassing the neighborhood deputies “found additional evidence of a shooting in the front of a second residence,” Northrup explained.

Based on the circumstances, deputies requested additional resources and investigators from the Thermal Station responded to the scene and authored a search warrant for the residence.

During the service of that search warrant deputies located and recovered several firearms and ammunition inside the residence. As a felon, Ramirez is prohibited from owning or being in possession of firearms or ammunition.

Officials have not specified what led to the shooting or if the two neighbors had previous conflicts with each other.
