Witnesses later reported that Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters determined at least one victim was trapped inside their wrecked vehicle and used the “Jaws of Life” to perform a cut and rescue operation to extricate the person from their car.

All three of the vehicles’ occupants was transported by ground ambulances to area hospitals, including one with critical injuries and two with injuries described as moderate and non-life threatening.

According to witnesses at the scene, the white compact failed to stop for the posted stop sign at the intersection and was speeding through at a high rate of speed when she plowed head-on into the gold car.

Based on the circumstances, members assigned to Menifee PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, which is ongoing.

At this time it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
