Menifee recognized as one of 2018’s top I.E. workplaces
MENIFEE — The city of Menifee announced that it has been named as a 2018 Top Workplace in the Inland Empire by the Press Enterprise. Menifee was ranked a “Top Workplace” in the small business category within 40 businesses out of over 800 surveyed.
“This award serves as well-deserved praise of our public employees in light of being recognized as the fastest growing city with over 145 active projects in the city and over 400 new planning applications annually,” City Manager Armando Villa said. “Our employees continue to make Menifee shine as an energetic and great place to work. They consistently go above and beyond for our residents, and each other, and I am fortunate enough to witness everyday their creativity, perseverance, and integrity for the work they do here.”
The “Top Workplaces” program was set up by Energage in 2006, along with Inland News Group/Press Enterprise, and is based on the belief that “the most successful companies are the ones that employees believe in.”
A company’s designation and ranking as a “Top Workplace” is determined and calculated by Energage’s Workplace Dynamics, a leading research firm on organization health and employee engagement, based on employee responses to its tried and tested survey. Each year over a million people complete the survey about their respective organizations. Survey questions ask employees to rate the company on such topics such as benefits, leadership, training, compensation and most important, workplace culture.
“As a council we are proud of our city staff, and they work they do for our growing community. It is also a testament to our new City Manager Armando Villa and the workplace culture he has created and encourages among his staff,” Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. “He has continuously conveyed that with all the booming development in the city and the large workload, that his staff still take the necessary time to enjoy their colleagues and the work they accomplish collectively, as well as feel appreciated for their contributions, and that they believe in they work they do and how its impact on the community is increasing the quality of life for our residents, businesses and visitors. And Mr. Villa and his Executive Team have done just that.”

Trevor Montgomery, 47, moved last year to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Additionally, he writes for several other news organizations; including Riverside County based newspapers, Valley News, The Valley Chronicle, and Anza Valley Outlook; as well as Bonsall/Fallbrook Village News in San Diego County and Mountain Echo in Shasta County.
Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg, breaking his back, and suffering both spinal cord and brain injuries in an off-duty accident. During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
