Four Cal Fire/Riverside County engine companies were dispatched to the residence about 8:16 p.m., after receiving reports of a possible residential structure fire. 911 callers reported seeing heavy smoke billowing from the home.

When the first engine company arrived at the scene they reported finding a single-family residence with smoke showing. Officials requested additional assistance from Hemet Fire Department, and another engine company was soon dispatched to the location.

Firefighters’ efforts contained the fire to the kitchen area of the home; however, a couple and their dog were displaced due to heavy smoke damage throughout the residence.

Paramedics evaluated and treated the two residents, one of whom sustained minor injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Hemet Valley Hospital for further treatment.

Southern California Edison and SoCal Gas later responded to shut off utilities to the home, and Red Cross members responded to the scene to assist the residents and their dog with temporary housing while their home is repaired.

No firefighters or other citizens were injured during the fire.
