City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the neighborhood around 4 p.m., after receiving reports of multiple people fighting, followed by reports of a shooting.

911 callers advised that after the shooting numerous people took off on foot and in several cars, fleeing the area in different directions. A subsequent 911 call reported that one adult male had been shot in the leg and had sought shelter inside a home near where the shooting happened.

When officials arrived they found the shot and injured man inside a home. They also found evidence of the shooting and immediately cordoned of the area, designating much of the street as a crime scene.

While officers began gathering information and investigating the shooting, paramedics transported the gunshot victim to Hemet Valley Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound.

Detectives, forensic technicians, and other officials, soon responded to the scene to assist with the investigation and were later seen scouring the area; as they documented, photographed, and collected, evidence related to the shooting.

While officers found and inspected bullet holes in the home and its garage door, other officers were seen interviewing one lone male as he sat on the sidewalk with his head down. Officials were also seen going door to door, talking to and interviewing potential witnesses, while searching for anyone with home surveillance cameras that could aid in the shooting investigation.
