Original Story: BREAKING: One dead after Hemet stabbing

HEMET — Although very few details have been released, officials confirmed to RCNS this morning that a man was fatally stabbed in a Hemet residential neighborhood last night, Friday, Mar. 1. The deadly incident happened in the 200 block of N. Western Ave, near Devonshire Ave.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with AMR and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the neighborhood around 9 p.m., after receiving reports of a stabbing. 911 callers reported “blood everywhere” and begged responders to hurry to the scene.

When officials arrived they found a man laying on his back within a fenced area of a private property. Witnesses later said the victim appeared to have sustained multiple stab wounds to his chest; however, Hemet police officials have not yet confirmed that as fact, saying only that the man had been stabbed.

Contacted for information this morning about the stabbing, Hemet Police Cpt. Glen Brock confirmed Hemet PD responded to the reported stabbing and did find a man who had been stabbed. Despite life-saving efforts and being rushed to an area hospital, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Citing the department’s ongoing investigation, Brock explained the department was not yet prepared to release any further information, saying his officers are “still actively working the case.”

Brock also told RCNS that Hemet PD will issue a press release and update, “when it is appropriate.”

Anyone with information about this investigation or who witnessed the deadly incident is encouraged to contact Hemet PD at (951) 765-2400. Callers can remain anonymous.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
