Deputies assigned to Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit began investigating the woman’s death after her body was found more than a thousand miles from her Jurupa Valley home on Feb. 5, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche explained yesterday in a written press release.

“Investigators worked with Calexico Police and learned the victim may have been kidnapped from the Jurupa Valley area prior to being killed,” explained Brosche. “Through the course of their investigation, the victim was identified as Rosa Isella Beltran Lopez.”

As their investigators continued, officials identified the victim’s husband, 44-year-old, Juan Carlos Lopez Alvarado, as the person they believe kidnapped, killed, and dumped Beltran Lopez’ body in Mexico.

Based on their investigation, officials arrested Alvarado on Feb. 18. He was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of murder with malice and remains in custody and is being held without bail.
