REDDING — Officials yesterday located a missing and at-risk, elderly Redding woman who disappeared the previous evening.

According to an update from Redding PD, the missing woman, 81-year-old, Betty Calihan, was located by CHP officers in the Bakersfield area around 6 a.m. the morning after she disappeared. She was found more than 400 miles and nearly seven hours from where she had last been seen, after CHP issued a state-wide Silver Alert.

In their update, Redding Police Cpl. Llamas said Calihan was found safe and unharmed and as of that update was awaiting to be reunited with relieved family members.

Redding police officers were first alerted to the victim’s disappearance around 8:30 p.m., when concerned family members reported her missing.

The missing woman, identified as 81-year-old, Betty Calihan, is believed to be in her vehicle, described as a white 2004 Kia Optima. She was last seen wearing a blue windbreaker jacket and dark blue jeans. She is 5-foot-6 and weighs about 160 pounds.

Officials have issued a Silver Alert for missing 81-year-old, Betty Calihan, of Redding.

At Redding PD’s request, California Highway Patrol later issued a state-wide Silver Alert in an effort to locate Mrs. Calihan.

Anyone with information about this investigation or who knows the victim’s whereabouts is urged to immediately contact Redding Police Officer J. Tracy at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 19R013788 and can remain anonymous.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
