Enjoy a good laugh with Murrieta PD’s Weekly Roundup 3/28

– Your PSA for the week – if you’re going to steal a $700 bicycle and laugh at the employee that’s trying to stop you as you’re riding it out the door, make sure that the door you’re using as an escape route actually opens. #automaticdoors #canbetricky Rusty Coffee eventually made it out of the business and into the arms of a concerned citizen who assisted in detaining Rusty until officers arrived. Rusty was arrested for theft, two felony warrants and six misdemeanor warrants and was booked into #CBDC. #untilwemeetagain

– Have you heard of the #9PMRoutine? It’s a reminder for you to get into a routine every night at 9:00 pm to take all valuables out of your cars, lock your cars, check your mail and make sure that your home is locked and secure. Do you want to know why we would like everyone to get into the #9PMRoutine? Because there are people out there looking for things to take. #wecallthemthieves Officers responded to a vehicle burglary on Buck Wood Way last Friday morning. The caller discovered that someone had smashed their vehicle window and taken a duffel bag. While one officer responded to speak to the victim, additional officers checked the area and located an 18 year old male from Redlands with property belonging to three separate victims of vehicle burglary. He was booked into #CBDC for vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property.

– No one likes to get a traffic ticket. We get it. I don’t know anyone that likes to have their behavior corrected. But just so you know, giving officers a fake name in hopes to not get a ticket isn’t going to help your cause. Brandyn Burks learned that when he was pulled over by Officer Baker for a traffic infraction. Unfortunately for Brandyn, what was going to be a simple traffic ticket ended up an arrest and a trip to #thebyrdhouse. #dontmakeitworsethanitneedstobe #justownyourmistakes #learnandmoveon

– If you’re going to be carrying around your meth and some burglary tools, all while having outstanding warrants, it’s recommended that you not ride your skateboard into traffic almost causing an accident. Derek Harp nearly caused an accident Tuesday night when he decided that it was a great idea to ride his skateboard into the intersection at Los Alamos and Madison. Luckily the vehicles were able to stop in time and no one got hurt. Unlucky for Derek because Officer Lynton was in one of the cars that was driving through the intersection at the time. #lookbothways #youwouldhaveseenthecop #duh #untilwemeetagain

– Wednesday night Officer Valle was doing her thing when she saw a vehicle speeding through a neighborhood. #gingerpowersactivated It was after midnight, so there weren’t many people out and a speeding Scion piqued her interest. #heywhatchadoin The Scion tried to #skadattle away, but Officer Valle’s Charger was faster and she quickly caught up and conducted a traffic stop. The Scion was occupied by Bradley Shields and Elizabeth Jagdeo. Officers Pitietti and Lynton arrived to assist Officer Valle and that’s probably when the duo knew that their evening was about to be cut short. #threecopsonatrafficstop The officers located meth, narcotics paraphernalia and burglary tools. As you know, #nothinggoodhappensaftermidnight and the two spent the rest of their night in #thebyrdhouse.

– Yes, you can own a gun. Yes, you can have ammunition. Yes, you can have prescription medication. But driving around with a gun, ammunition and a bunch of prescription medication without an actual prescription for it isn’t a good idea. Michael Nen and Lisa Yem were arrested Saturday on several weapons and narcotics charges.

– When you’re on parole and probation, you have certain rules you need to follow. Some are pretty obvious, like not to do drugs or commit crimes. #prettymuchaliferule Others are specific to your previous convictions, like having to stay away from certain locations. But for some reason, those terms are always hard for people to remember. #itsalmostliketheydontcare Alexander Leroy violated his parole by using narcotics. Timothy Appleman violated his parole by having narcotics paraphernalia. Matthew Shepard violated his formal probation by being at a store his probation stated that he wasn’t supposed to be at. Ryan Barton violated his supervised release by stealing a pair of shoes. #fineprint #youshouldreadit #ifyoudontwanttogotojail #ifyoudontwanttoendupintheroundup #dontcommitcrime

– Officer Drootin contacted Lizeth Olivares and Albert Rodriguez Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a very popular store. Officer Drootin reminded them that you probably shouldn’t bring all of your meth and heroin with you when you go shopping. #justathought Lizeth and Albert won a one way trip to #thebyrdhouse.

– Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun Tuesday night and found what looked like a scene from the Walking Dead. There was one person with a rifle, one with a crossbow and one with a sword. #whydoyouhavethat #aretherezombies #Rick #Daryl #Michone Turns out that the rifle was a BB gun and the crossbow was a toy, but the sword was real. #dopeoplereallyhaveswords #isheapirate There are a couple of lessons to learn here. First, don’t play with weapons, real or not, outside where people can see you. #lessonnumberone You may know that you’re playing, but other people don’t. Second, comply when the officers give you directions. #lessonnumbertwo #itsabigone #youwouldthinkitwouldbeobvious An 18 year old went to jail for resisting arrest, and an 18 year old male and a 12 year old male went home. #makebetterchoices #youshouldprobablysticktovideogames
