Overturned big-rig causing minor delays in Hemet

HEMET — Authorities are at the scene of a rollover accident involving a tractor-trailer big-rig that overturned, spilling its load this morning, Thursday, April 4.

The solo-vehicle crash has caused the closure of the intersection of Domenigoni Parkway and Warren Rd., while officials work to right the truck back onto its wheels, clean up its spilled load, and investigate the cause of the crash.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with CHP, AMR and other emergency personnel, responded to the scene of the crash around 8 a.m., after receiving multiple reports of the overturned big-rig.

At around 8:30 a.m., Hemet PD announced via social media that they were forced to call for the temporary closure of Warren Rd. between Domenigoni Parkway and Simpson Rd., and all motorists were diverted away from the accident scene.

Officials have not specified what caused the crash, but witnesses at the scene later reported it appeared that the truck overturned while attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Warren Rd. from Domenigoni Parkway. When the big-rig overturned, it spilled a large portion of its load of mulch onto the roadway.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries related to the crash and Hemet PD’s investigation is active and ongoing at the scene.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
