Two injured, one hospitalized, after Hemet rollover
HEMET — Two drivers were injured and one was hospitalized after a two vehicle, rollover traffic collision in Hemet Tuesday afternoon, April 9. Yesterday’s crash, which left one woman trapped inside her overturned vehicle, happened just north of the intersection of Florida and Lyon avenues.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 3:45 p.m., after receiving reports of the accident. 911 callers reported two vehicles were involved and that a woman was possibly trapped and injured inside her overturned vehicle.
When officials arrived they found two involved vehicles, described as a silver Honda Fit and White Dodge Durango. The heavily damaged Honda was on its roof within the lanes of travel on Lyon and the Dodge was stopped in a nearby parking lot.

Firefighters confirmed the driver of the Honda was injured and trapped and quickly worked to extricate her through the passenger side door of the vehicle. She was then transported to Hemet Valley Hospital for further treatment.
The other driver sustained a minor head injury and after she was evaluated and treated at the scene. She declined further medical treatment and was not transported.
Officers who investigated the crash learned that just before the collision the Dodge had been traveling on northbound Lyon and was preparing to turn into a business parking lot when her vehicle was struck from behind by the Honda. The impact caused the Honda to overturn, and it came to rest upside down and on its roof.
While officials worked at the scene they called for the temporary closure of northbound Lyon, until the overturned vehicle could be righted back onto its wheels and towed from the scene.
Hemet PD’s collision investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
