Two arrested after fatal Anza shooting

ANZA — Sheriff’s officials announced the arrest of two men suspected in the fatal shooting of a man at an Anza residence late Wednesday evening, June 4, after the victim was dropped off at an Anza fire station shortly before midnight. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
Wednesday’s deadly shooting reportedly happened at a property in the area of Trip Flats Rd. and Bautista Canyon. According to sheriff’s officials, prior to the shooting the residence had already been targeted as the subject of a series of search warrants planned for the following morning. The search warrants, which targeted nearly 120 Anza Valley properties suspected of illegal marijuana cultivation, were served the morning after the fatal incident.

Deputies were first alerted to the man’s murder at 11:37 p.m., after receiving a report that a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound had been dumped at Cal Fire’s Station 29; on the 565000 block of Highway 371, in Anza, sheriff’s officials had previously reported.
When deputies arrived, they learned medical aid was given to the injured victim; however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Espinoza wrote in an updated report. The scene was secured and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the shooting occurred at a property located in the area of Trip Flats Rd. and Bautista Canyon in Anza,” said Espinoza.
On June 7, as their investigation was getting underway, investigators identified Maxwell Hakole Kalah Reynolds, 28, of Anza, as having been involved in the deadly shooting. Based on their investigation, officials arrested Reynolds and he was booked at Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of second degree murder and a traffic violation.
The next day, June 8, investigators identified a second suspect, later identified as Brandon Noll Pollard, 27, of Escondido, as having also been involved in the shooting. Central homicide investigators arrested Pollard and he was later booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of murder and violation of parole.

Both men remain in custody on $1 million bail.
This is an active investigation and no additional details are currently available, according to Espinoza.

ANZA — Sheriff’s officials are investigating a man’s murder after the victim was dropped off at a Cal Fire station in Anza late Tuesday evening June 4. The victim was suffering at least one gunshot wound and died at the fire station before he could be transported to an area hospital for further treatment, according to officials.

Deputies were first alerted to the man’s murder at 11:37 p.m.,after receiving a report that a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound had been dumped at Cal Fire’s Station 29, on the 565000 block of Highway 371, in Anza, according to sheriff’s officials.
When deputies arrived, they learned the victim had succumbed to his gunshot injury and Cal Fire personnel had already pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
The man has not been identified, but sheriff’s officials have since said the man’s murder was believed to have happened at a residence where an illegal marijuana grow operation was occurring. That location was one of nearly 120 Anza Valley properties that were the subjects of a large-scale, coordinated marijuana eradication program that targeted illegal grows throughout the following day.

The sheriff’s investigation is ongoing and there are no additional details or releasable information at this time, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
