CHP and other area fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to the crash about 2:40 p.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting a Kia Sorento that rolled off the highway and landed on its passenger side.

The 911 caller initially reported finding three children in the backseat, before updating that there were actually two children and an adult, and that all were in the backseat of the overturned SUV. The caller also reported the trio was possibly trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

When CHP arrived at the scene just minutes after the call was reported, the officer reported finding a Kia that was on its side and that good Samaritans had stopped at the scene and were assisting those involved in the crash. The officer also reported that all three victims were out of the vehicle, which ended up about 10 feet from the highway.

All three victims were eventually transported to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified, but non-life-threatening injuries.

At 2:50 p.m., Performance Towing was summoned to remove the wrecked vehicle and was still headed to the scene as of this report. CHP and other emergency personnel were expected to remain committed at the scene for about one more hour, while CHP finished their initial on-scene investigation and the vehicle was towed.
