Elsinore woman ID’d after fatal Wildomar hit and run

WILDOMAR — A Lake Elsinore woman was struck and killed in Wildomar and her lifeless body was later discovered just minutes after midnight, on the morning of Friday, July 5. The deadly hit and run happened near the intersection of Mission Trail and Sylvester Rd., and officials are now searching for the driver who fled the scene of the fatal collision.

Riverside Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Charline Wells, 42, of Lake Elsinore, as the victim killed by the hit and run driver. A coroner’s release indicated the time that Wells was fatally struck was unknown, but that she was pronounced deceased at 12:41 a.m.

Deputies and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the fatal incident at 12:04 a.m., after receiving a call reporting finding the victim’s body, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Sean Vickers later reported. The 911 caller reported they had been walking in the area when they spotted Wells’ body against a fence near the intersection.

“Medical personnel were the first to arrive on scene and pronounced the victim deceased,” Vickers explained.

Based on the circumstances, members of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff Station’s Traffic Team responded to the scene to conduct a full investigation into the collision.

Officials were not able to identify the vehicle that struck the victim that morning and their investigation and search for the hit and run driver are ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
