Bicyclist dies after slamming into Rancho Mirage pole
RANCHO MIRAGE — A bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and passed away after riding his bicycle into a pole in Rancho Mirage, Wednesday morning, July 10. The fatal accident happened in a parking lot near the intersection of Dinah Shore Dr. and Monterey Ave.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the crash just after 8 a.m., after receiving reports of a downed cyclist, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Rod LaBrecque reported after the fatal collision.
When officials arrived, they found a bicyclist down and in need of medical attention in the parking lot. The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Based on the circumstances, deputies from Palm Desert Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Their preliminary on-scene investigation revealed the cyclist was traveling east on Dinah Shore Drive “when he veered off the roadway and entered an adjacent parking lot,” LaBrecque explained. “After entering the parking lot, the male struck a concrete pole.”

The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family.
The sheriff’s investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
