10 displaced after fire rips through San Jacinto apartment complex

SAN JACINTO — Ten people were displaced after a blaze damaged two vehicles and ripped through a San Jacinto carport, before spreading to an apartment complex, Wednesday evening, Aug 28.

Although nearly a dozen people and their pets were displaced by yesterday’s residential structure fire, which happened on the 200 block of E. 6th St. near S. Jordan Ave., no injuries related to the fire were reported.

Nearly two dozen Cal Fire/Riverside County, City of Hemet, and Soboba firefighters were dispatched to the fire around 5:41 p.m., Cal Fire officials reported after the blaze. They were assisted by a Breathing Support Unit and a Paramedic Squad.

When officials arrived they reported finding a fully engulfed carport with two cars burning and fire spreading to a two story apartment complex. Firefighters also reported the blaze was endangering several other nearby structures and they began an immediate and aggressive attack on the fire.

Firefighters spent about thirty minutes knocking down the fire, which they reported had been contained around 6:17 p.m.

After the blaze was brought under control, American Red Cross officials were called in to assist those affected by the fire.

Cal Fire is investigating the cause of the fire and their investigation is ongoing.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
