Jurupa Valley pastor accused of sexually assaulting minor arrested
JURUPA VALLEY — Authorities who arrested a pastor they say was responsible for sexually assaulting a girl who was attending New Beginnings Community Church in Jurupa Valley are asking for the public’s help identifying other potential victims the man may have assaulted.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station began investigating the alleged sexual assault Friday, Nov. 8, after a juvenile girl reported she had been the victim of a sexual assault at the church, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Julio De Leon reported after the arrest.
“Deputies learned that Sean Edward Ortiz, a 51-year-old Jurupa Valley resident and Lead Pastor at New Beginnings Community Church, sexually assaulted a minor female parishioner at the church on at least two separate occasions,” De Leon explained.

Based on their investigation, officials located Ortiz at his Whitney Dr. residence in Jurupa Valley where he was arrested. He was subsequently booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of two counts of sexual battery involving a minor.
Jail records indicate Ortiz was released the day after his arrest after posting $50,000 bail and he is scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall of Justice Jan 9.
The sheriff’s investigation is ongoing and officials have asked that anyone who was possibly victimized by Ortiz or who knows of anyone who was victimized to come forward.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
