Three hospitalized after Hemet “T-Bone” collision

HEMET — Three people were hospitalized after a two vehicle, broadside collision at the intersection of W. Stetson Ave and S. Elk St., Saturday evening, Jan. 5.

City of Hemet police and fire departments, along with AMR and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the crash just before 9 p.m., according to official radio traffic at the time.

Fire officials arrived at the scene within minutes and found two dark-colored vehicles in the middle of the intersection and blocking westbound traffic. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered throughout the intersection and both vehicles sustained major damage, according to witnesses at the scene.

Police officers soon arrived and began diverting traffic away from the scene, with all westbound traffic stopped and detoured from S. Palm Ave.

While officers investigated the cause of the crash, three occupants from the two vehicles were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The full extent or nature of their injuries was not immediately known, but none appeared life-threatening according to witnesses.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of this crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor Montgomery, 48, moved in 2017 to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
