JURUPA VALLEY — Officials yesterday announced they successfully located a woman who had been kidnapped from Jurupa Valley last Saturday, Jan 25.

The victim, 46-year-old Jennifer Martinez – who has since been safely returned to her family, had been missing since a man was seen leading her away from her home. Her alleged kidnapper, Robert Lopez, a 46-year-old transient from the Los Angeles area, now sits in a Riverside County Jail cell on numerous charges related to the incident.

Deputies began searching for the victim after learning she had possibly been kidnapped, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Tyson Voss reported as the sheriff’s investigation was getting underway.

During their investigation authorities developed leads and gathered information that eventually led them to the Los Angeles area, where they located both Martinez and Lopez yesterday, Saturday, Feb. 1; Voss reported in an updated press release about the ongoing investigation.

After being located, Martinez was reunited with her family; while Lopez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for kidnapping, burglary, spousal abuse, and vandalism.

Jail records indicate Lopez remains in custody at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, where he is being held on $55,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Riverside’s Hall Of Justice Wednesday, Feb. 5.

JURUPA VALLEY — Authorities are asking for the public’s help as they continue searching for a Jurupa Valley woman who was reportedly kidnapped from her residence last Saturday morning, Jan. 25.

Although officials have identified and named a Los Angeles area transient suspected in the woman’s kidnapping and conducted extensive searches for both the victim and her alleged kidnapper, they say they have not been able to locate either.

Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 3700 block of Eve Circle shortly before 9:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a possible kidnapping, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Tyson Voss reported as the sheriff’s investigation was getting underway.

During their subsequent investigation deputies determined the victim, 46-year-old Jennifer Martinez, was taken from the residence against her will by a known acquaintance, according to Voss.

The man who allegedly kidnapped Martinez has since been identified as Robert Lopez,  a 46-year-old transient from the Los Angeles area. 

Both subjects were last seen walking from the area, according to the Sgt.

Although deputies conducted an “extensive search” with help from personnel assigned to the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, Riverside Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, Riverside Police Aviation Unit, and bloodhounds from both Riverside Sheriff’s K9 Unit and Riverside Police Department, neither subject has been located. 

Martinez is described as a white female, 5’6” tall, weighing about 120 pound, with short hair brown hair.  She was last seen wearing a white top and black and silver striped pajama pants. 

Lopez is described as a Hispanic male, 6’1” tall, weighing about 250 pounds with a shaved head.  He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark pants.  He also has tattoo, possibly a skull, on his right hand.

The search and investigation are ongoing.
