Drugs, weapons, cash seized during Redding search warrant

REDDING, Calif. — Authorities arrested a probationer and suspected drug dealer after serving a narcotics-related search warrant at the man’s Redding residence, Wednesday afternoon, April 1.

While serving the search warrant on the 2700 block of Heather Lane officers located and seized heroin, methamphetamine and methadone, as well as several weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition, according to Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force and Redding Police Department officials, who also seized more than $25,000 of suspected drug money found inside the home.

Officials also seized more than $4,000 in cash from another “well-known drug dealer”, who showed up at the residence while Task Force agents were serving the warrant.

As part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, SINTF agents teamed with officers assigned to Redding PD’s Neighborhood Police Unit to serve a search warrant on Daniel James Parks at his residence, SINTF agents later reported.

Parks is on PRCS probation for felony obstruction of justice and has a lengthy criminal history including arrests for possession of narcotics for sales, terrorist threats, battery against emergency personnel, and domestic violence, according to SINTF agents.

While serving a Redding search warrant, Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force agents and Redding PD officers located and seized heroin, methamphetamine and methadone, as well as several weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition, according to SINTF and RPD officials.

While searching Park’s residence, SINTF agents and Redding PD officers located and seized $25,650 in U.S. currency, 299 grams of heroin, a small amount of methamphetamine, and 11 bottles of methadone; as well as scales, packaging materials and other items associated with drug sales.

Agents also discovered Parks was in possession of an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, multiple 30 round magazines, a 9mm pistol, a bolt action rifle, a stun gun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition; all in violation of his probation terms.

While conducting the search, 26-year-old, Michael Webb, who is a “well-known drug dealer” according to agents, arrived at Parks’ residence; where he was detained and later searched.

SINTF agents eventually located $4,095 cash in various bundles “consistent in size with recent sales of narcotics” stashed in Webb’s clothing along with narcotics paraphernalia, explained SINTF; saying, “Webb had no logical explanation as to how he obtained the money.”

Believing Webb obtained the cash selling narcotics for Parks and that Webb was returning to Parks’ residence to purchase more drugs, SINTF agents seized Webb’s money before he was released.

Parks was later booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of violation of probation, possession of narcotics for sale, being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of banned firearms, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of controlled substance without a prescription.

Online jail records indicate Parks remains in custody and is being held without bail.
