Trio arrested after Redding Goodwill burglary

REDDING, Calif. — Early morning reports of a burglary in progress at a Redding Goodwill led to the arrest of three people – including one man who was already on parole for another burglary – who were caught trying to flee from the business Monday morning, April 27.

According to officials, the arrests happened after an off-sight security company observed the three alleged burglars inside the business on their closed circuit surveillance system and called 911.

Redding police officers were alerted to the situation on the 1600 block of Hilltop Dr. around 12:40 a.m., after receiving reports of a possible burglary in progress, Redding Police Corporal Rob Garnero reported after the incident and arrests.

Using the live feed from the business, security officers were able to provide detailed descriptions of all three suspects seen stealing items from the business.

Officers began arriving in the area within minutes of the dispatched call and spotted three people, later identified as 31-year-old, Lacee Waers, 32-year-old, Daniel Wallace, and 37-year-old, Timothy Bailey, running from the business. All are Redding residents.

The trio seen running in the area of the business matched the descriptions security officers provided of the suspects and officers detained all three for further investigation.

During their subsequent investigation, officers determined the suspects gained entry to the business from an exterior roll-up door of the business.

Video footage of the burglary that was later obtained by officers showed two of the suspects entering the business through the roll-up door and handing merchandise to the third suspect, who was waiting outside the door.

Officers also located and recovered merchandise the three attempted to steal, according to Garnero.

Based on their investigation, officers arrested all three alleged suspects and transported them to Shasta County Jail in Redding where they were booked on suspicion of commercial burglary, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

In addition to the other charges, Bailey was also booked for violating the terms of his parole.
